Morning Everyone
Autodesk’s Shawn Hendriks has put together a great video that allows us to get a glimpse at Subatomic Studios sequel to the smash IOS hit, Fieldrunners. For Fieldrunners, they used 3ds Max to develop a 2D game using 3D tools, and Shawn’s video shows us why that made them far more efficient then traditional 2D games workflows.

Fieldrunners 2 is out now for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game appeared on the App Store the morning of Thursday, July 19th, and is #2 Top Paid and #11 Top Grossing app. (The link to preview on itunes is available here.)
If this YouTube video has whet your appetite, than you can find out more about their workflows and pipeline by visiting this link, including a link to view images and screenshots, but more importantly a Q&A section with the 3ds Max artists, Kosta Atanasov, Marcel Hampel, Rory Lane Lutter and Tommy Zhou.

Also why not take 5 minutes to have a look at this inspirational company, by visiting their home page, here, or by following them on one of the below links.

I’m sure you will agree that the team at Subatomic have created a great game, that visually is compelling and imaginative. I know what I will be playing on my long journeys into work now….
Happy Max’ing
