Morning all,
Are you using Vray 2.3 with 3ds Max 2010 or higher?
Yes, then you should have a look at yesterday’s post on CGChannel by industry vet, Jim Thacker (of 3dworld ex-editor fame.) In the post Jim highlights Intel Labs Embree technology, and how Chaosgroup has used this tech to create VRayEmbree.
Embree is a collection of photo-realistic (Monte Carlo) ray tracing kernels with support for SSE and AVX instructions, first released as beta this time last year.
This impressively produces a reported 30% increase in performance on Intel’s latest 64 Processors. The good news is it’s free.
You can read Jim’s full post with relevant download links by clicking here.
This page also features a 2.5minute video overview from Intel, with the compulsory ‘German scientist’ in an official-looking white coat, and we all know you can never disagree with any facts from a guy in a white coat.
Happy Max’ing
