In an on-going effort to continually increase stability and performance, we have released Product Update (PU) 8 for those of you using 3ds Max 2012. As always, make sure you examine the full readme file before installing. This update requires SP2 to be installed prior to the PU.
The main points to note, which PU8 addresses can be found below:
» 3ds Max 2011 and prior releases were unable to open some .max files. This has been fixed.
» CAT (Character Animation Toolkit): When copying and pasting a layer on the rig, the newly pasted layer now contains the keys from the original layer.
» CAT: 32-bit and 64-bit CAT limb "Segments" twist bones were working differently than they did in 3ds Max 2010. This has been fixed.
» CAT: Clips loaded after updating the rig using RG3 now play correctly.
» CAT: Motion clips now save and reload properly.
There are also 19+ Customer Error Reports (CER) specific fixes in this Product Update. As a reminder CER’s are the reports you directly send to us, when the product freezes or crashes and a window appears asking for more info. This is an important dialogue window in 3ds Max. I would encourage you all to add as much detail as possible, and continue to submit these to us. Each one is looked at, and It helps all of us build a stronger 3ds Max. I understand this is often the last thing you wish to do when deadlines are looming, but this information remains tremendously useful for creating fixes to issues you may experience.
