Here’s a great show reel of recent work, shared by Joel LeLievre of Delicate Machines, based in Dartmouth, NS.
Delicate Minds was founded in 2006 by Joel and Jon Mitchell, who combined, have over 18 years experience on feature films, commercials and music videos. They are a small studio, but their work is anything but small, as they have worked on projects such as Avatar, Twilight; New Moon, Sucker Punch, Xmen Origins, Transformers, Dark of The Moon, Sin City and Tron: Legacy to name just a few in their honour roll.
You may be wondering what it’s doing on a 3ds Max blog though? Well Joel mentioned to me that 85-90% of the work on his 2012 reel was completed in 3ds Max. This may surprise you, especially when you look at the high profile clips, typically associated with other 3d applications. This only goes to prove that 3ds Max is all around you, and is testament to the amazing wealth of third party plugins that grow its out-of-the-box functionality.
In this 2012 reel Joel used:
- pFlow
- Chaosgroup’s V-ray
- Maya
- Cebas Thinking Particles, and
- fumefx
Now it’s time to turn up your speakers, switch the video feed to HD, and enjoy Delicate Machines beautiful work….
