Morning Everyone,
It’s rare you find a truly unique MAXScript, nowadays, that is totally unique and makes you think why wasn’t this made before now! but that’s exactly what Ohio based developer, John Martini has created with his latest offering.
In the below “Cobweb” script John has created a poetic script that should get you excited about the possibilities this opens, and the renderings it allows you to quickly make. Something that is undeniably difficult in this advanced age, when most possibilities have already been explored.
Already in Version 6, this powerful little tool has only three simple steps for use in 3ds Max 2012 and 2013. (3 simple steps, but a world of possibilities….)
- Run MAXScript > Cobwebs.ms
- Select your geometry objects.
- Choose your desired settings for the cobwebs and hit create.
You can download this script here, and by selecting the “Downloads” section on the far right hand side of the page. (last updated May 9th)
In the below Spiderman-esque images we see two lovely examples of what this powerful script can do.More examples can be found on John’s “web” site (sorry, for the bad pun, but it had to be done.) :

Whilst your visiting his site, I also recommend you explore the other tools he has offered in his “Extras” section. (Click Here) Noteworthy additions that caught my eye are:
Select Intersectors:

Object Randomiser:

Welder:

& Path Streaks:

As I’ve always said, the greatest power of 3ds Max, is not it’s tools, but the community that gets behind it.
It would be great to see some of the imagery you create with this script. Please feel free to email me (or on Twitter) and I will share with the others.
Happy Max’ing
