As it’s (thankfully) a Friday, its only right we try to avoid doing as much work as possible. Ok, so that may not be a good idea, but why not spend a few minutes watching a video that gives a quick insight into your favourite 3d tools 20+ year heritage.
The below embedded video features Gary Yost who directed the team that developed the original 3D Studio Dos and later the first releases of 3ds Max.
In this short, but insightful 5.5 minute video, he discusses how it all started and how it feels looking back 20 years later.
In the above video, Gary mentions Tim Miller at Blur. Tim is the owner of the Californian creative studio, and I’m quite sure this is one company I don’t need to give you a background on.
Tim Miller has been using 3ds Max and before that 3D Studio since the beginning and in this video he talks a little bit about what its meant to him to be using this product for 20 years.
Whilst we are fondly looking back to the early days, then I thought you might like to watch the below video. This shows a screen capture of 3D Studio R4 in action. This 9minute video even ends in a render.
Oh those were the days……
Happy Max’ing
