Rob Jamieson at AMD has passed me two documents which you may find helpful. The first one I want to highlight is designed to assist you in getting the most from your existing machine, by offering free tips and recommendations on how to optimise your workstation or laptop at no cost. This document has some great tips to ensure that you are giving 3ds Max as much resources as possible to speed up those day to day process. This 8 page PDF tuning guide was created for Develop3D. I would recommend regularly re-visiting the first 10 tips, ensuring your machine is given a quick health check to enhance your workstation experience. The document then goes on to recommend some tips for hardware buying recommendations.

The second document to mention, is much more ‘marketing’ focused, but still contains some nuggets of useful information. This 37 page PDF intends to simplify some of the information regarding professional graphics. Once into the document, it highlights some of the considerations and terminology around OpenCL, OpenGL, DirectX and API. All areas you may have been afraid to ask about at events. Make of this document what you will, but I personally found it interesting to gain an understanding of some future trends from AMD and ensure I truly appreciate how graphics cards work, be it from AMDs viewpoint.
