An area within 3ds Max we all touch on a regular basis are the 'spinners'. These controllers allow us to quickly amend numerical values with ease. Luckily we can also extend some of this functionality to make the process even easier.
In most cases you will hold the up or down arrow icon to continuously alter the value. When changing from a small value to a large value (i.e. 1 – 100), this can take a few seconds to perform. Below are two shortcuts that allow this interaction to be a smoother and more accurate operation. Press and hold the relevant key to perform the shortcut, whilst clicking on the arrow icons.
- ALT = Slower numerical scroll rate allowing for greater accuracy
- CTRL = Faster scroll rate for reaching larger numbers quicker.
