Morning All
Following on from yesterday’s Quicktip of global material rendering, we will stay with this editor and have a look at how we can better manage our materials.
But why should you do this? We all (hopefully) look at our scenes geometry and use some method to manage these more efficiently by using layers/groups/selection sets. However its rare for us to have the same level of management when working with materials. For instance if working an automotive project, I will separate the interior, exterior, and environment materials to allow me to find and manage them quickly.
1. This again is where the Slate editor comes into view singing and dancing. In Slate’s interface Right Click on the highlighted ‘View’ tab.
2. From here select ‘Add New View.’ (see below image) This will create a clean view tab or workspace. This can be easily renamed, by again right-clicking on the tab and choosing the relevant option.
I hope this encourages you to start to think about material management, as this does provide dividends when the deadline pressures get tougher.
Happy Max’ing
