Todays quicktip is around rapidly changing your animation timelines flow.
1. In 3ds Max, with an animated object, you can quickly reverse your created animation by navigating to the Main Menu Toolbar, navigating to ‘Graph Editors’ and selecting the ‘Dope Sheet’ option.
2. From there, choose the ‘Select Time’ icon. (If your active/selected object is not the focus, you can filter the view to only show the objects channels by pressing the icon in the bottom left corner of the track view interface.)
3. Select the required time frame in the main window (either full range of segment)
4. From here choose the ‘Reverse Time’ button.
You now have a timeline that will play ‘backwards.’
Also, note the colour coding of the keyframes when you create a key. This allows you to quickly identify what keyframe to target once created. (Click to enlarge - As with all the images on this site)
- Red = Movement
- Blue = Scaling
