In Yesterdays 3ds Max Quicktip we spoke about how to change the end frame number quickly within your aniamtion timeline. Today we will look at the changing the start frame, from the default 0. Changing the start frame from 0 is a useful thing to do, especially when running particle effects, dynamic simulations or tweaking animations, as you will often require the animation to be started for extra believability when rendering effects like motionblur. (or saving motionblur channels for post effects)
Now lets have a look at how we do this:
Again, Hover your mouse over the animation timeline at the bottom of your screen, and this time press CTRL+ALT+Left Mouse button.
As before you simply need to drag in the timeline panel to add the necessary start frames, or remove frames.
Once again we are confronted by a floating UI element which appears next to your cursor, indicating the new frame number.
Happy Max’ing
